Scarecrow Tailgate Showdown

The Madison the City Business Network is excited to announce a new event for 2026 – the Scarecrow Tailgate Showdown!  This tailgate cooking competition will follow the Scarecrow Stroll on October 10.  Take a leisurely stroll through downtown Madison and then vote for your favorite tailgate dish from 3:30-5:00 at the Business Network Parking Lot, 2023 Main Street.  Dance to the DJ’s rocking tunes while the youngsters play in the Kids Zone at The Village at Madison.  Awards will be given at 5:00 pm.

The public will choose a winner in each of these categories:

– Golden Fork Award for Best Appetizer or Side

– Grand Chef Award for Best Main Dish

– Sweetest Victory Award for Best Dessert

Plus, the Life of the Party trophy will go to the group with the most spirit and audience engagement.

TAILGATE SHOWDOWN ENTRY FORM

Tailgaters wanting to compete are asked to complete the following form by September 30.  Please choose the category in which you wish your dish to be judged.  Each entry will have a 12 x 12 space and must provide your own tent, weighted down for safety, and two buckets to collect tickets – one for your dish and one for the Spirit Award.  You are encouraged to provide a non-alcoholic beverage to go with your dish. You do not have to cook your dish on-site. We will provide tasting containers, a spoon, and tickets.  Decorate your area with a non-scary Scarecrow theme or your favorite school.
